Dus even stiekem wat foto’s gemaakt.
It is Sunday already again and it's all going so fast. We are one week with Patricia in Grand Rapids already again. Tuesday we will fly home, I think it even will be okay though. We are one month on the road now and I think to be back at home in our own rhythm it will be all right also. We arrived Sunday in Grand Rapids and then it was just the feeling of coming home again. We did meet David, Valerie and the children immediately and we actually have met them the rest of the week or almost every day of this week. Monday we went to the Grand Rapids Public Museum all together and it was fun. Tuesday before we went to Scottville, we did go to Flowerland a big garden center. Patricia did have her birthday on May 18th and we did get some beautiful flower baskets and a beautiful lilac tree. Last year, my Dad said that I had to give plants and flowers to Patricia and Mom DeMeester, by that I told him I would do so during our stay. Papa, you can be satisfied, because we picked out for Mom some beautiful roses and she was also very happy with it. The car was really full of flowers and plants in various scents and colors. Along the way we visited David and Valerie's house for Willem to show. It's a beautiful house in a big area, which is something not always to be useful, but they live really beautiful. In the afternoon we went to Mom in Scottville and also Suanne was around. It was great to see my American Mom, 82 years and having a bad cough, but great to be there also feeling come home again. There is in about 2 weeks a great event for the Cancer Society to raise money and they run it at that time with some bags with a light in it. These paper bags filled with a light are all decorated and set with the name of someone who is deceased by cancer. That is the name of Ray DeMeester, my American Dad. It was a special something to be creative again this way and we really had lots of fun. In the evening we had great steaks on the grill and with Mom’s delicious potato salad it was really yummy. It was really celebrating a birthday because that day Patricia did get a very tasty birthday cake. Suanne did get us both a beautiful wind charm and for sure we were very pleased and happy with this present. The next day after breakfast we went to the cemetery with some other beautiful flowers for Dad and Katie to put down on their graves. We also went to Eagle Express, Patricia's brother Al had unfortunately a meeting so that we didn’t meet him this time again. But he has nice trucks and we looked if there might be one open. So just to make some sneaky pictures and Willem behaved very well. In the afternoon we had to be back in Grand Rapids in time, because Patricia was supposed to be there with the food truck. It is a truck full of food that could be distributed to all the needy, from apples to potatoes, from milk to bread and many other things. Something like in the Netherlands we call it the food bank. Greg had to work for a while, Brian had to go to school, so we were here on our own. It isn’t really not too bad and Willem has been mowing the grass. That is something that always is on his program being here and it's really a big piece of lawn around the house, so Willem has been busy for a while. And so what did I do? I don’t even remember it myself, just relax and hanging out. The next day it was already Thursday, my big day had arrived because I was scrapbook shopping. Oh, how nice all the scrapbook stores are here in the neighborhood, but to see all these shops on one day it is far too busy. A big job and yes we did it, but you know at that moment I really did not know what I wanted exactly. We did Outlet, Michaels, Jo-Ann's, Hobby Lobby and finally PAGES IN TIME (thanks Valerie). A great store of 3500 square meters to just scrap stuff. I've just behaved very neatly I think, because what I bought wasn’t really so bad. I've sometimes had much more with me as I do hear Johan his comment. I'd really like to have some more paper, but I have to be careful about the weight of the suitcases to take home (there should be as well a package to be sent home). Patricia was the babysitter for that day for Veda and the gentlemen took Sylvia under their wings. They went to the Zoo and in the afternoon they did put the lilac tree on a beautiful spot. Patricia brought Sylvia and Veda back to David’s home. After Greg and Willem were played out with the fireworks and exercises with hand grenades, there were a few nice steaks on the grill again. For me it was a very busy day and that evening I really was exhausted. The next day Greg and Willem went to Newaygo to meet David for beer brewing. Patricia, Valerie, Veda and I went to Holland, Michigan to meet Valerie's mother and sister. Stephanie has a loving son Dax, which is one week older than Veda. But Dax being born too late and Veda born too early it is really a big difference to see both babies together. It was really fun and nice to see all of them. In the evening there was an international poker game here in the house, the men always have a lot of fun with it and I went downstairs to watch some television. It was also nice to already have the final season episodes of Ghost Whisperer and Medium seen. Willem was also playing poker but at a given moment it was over, then it's all going too fast for him. Yesterday May 22 there were family pictures on the program. We all went to Steve Piedt, a photographer with a studio at home with his wife Barb and daughter Hannah, who have done their best to get us all as neat as possible for the picture. That is a big thing, especially with two kids and I'm curious how the photos will be. Later David, Valerie and the kids went home. We did do some shopping and afterwards we went to the Mongolian BBQ to get a delicious meal.
Today is already Sunday May 23 and we had to sleep in this morning. Not for me of course not, so I woke up early again and having the last two days a lot of pain to my left arm, but I am glad I’m feeling much better now. Maybe I’ve been laying down the wrong way or a strained muscle, but it was not very pleasant I can tell you. This afternoon we all are going to a Japanese restaurant and that will be a whole special experience again like always. Time goes very quickly and tomorrow it is already time for packing the luggage again.
I can't believe your time here is nearly done. I know you are eager to go home, but we will miss you very, very much.
