Groetjes, Ria
With some great last days in Grand Rapids our wonderful holiday has ended. Sunday in the afternoon we traditionally went all together to the Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse. There was for Sylvia a babysitter and we all did have a wonderfull time with good food and good company. At that time we saw David for the last time and it was strange starting to say goodbye already. At Monday Valerie would have a church meeting and we should babysit on the two girls, but the meeting was canceled. Valerie still came along, so we could say goodbye to her, Sylvia and Veda. Gosh, how grown they will be the next time when we can see them again. After a delicious lunch having a great pizza, we drove to Lowell. Deanna lives there, beeing a daughter of Patricia's sister Judy. It was very nice to see her, Rob and the children Abigail and Andrew again, because that was really already 10 years ago. They live almost 2 hours driving from Grand Rapids. Patricia had been previously to the Dutch store and had bought Dutch biscuits, chocolate sprinkles, stroopwafels, speculaasjes and colored fruit sprinkles for afternoon tea. Willem has taught them how to put 2 speculaasjes with butter in between to eat, even to go on just white bread with some butter and it seemed they liked it. Lea, a friend of Abigail had discovered the stroopwafels, so that package was going very fast. Willem went some later with these two young ladies for a walk to take pictures from the area, for around the house is really a very large piece of land.
That Sunday and Monday we had the suitcases mostly already packed. Tuesday we had to leave on time for the airport and it was again a very strange experience to say goodbye to everyone. At Monday Greg had already started working again, so we went with Patricia to the airport and we have been waiting there for a while. Luggage check in was rather easy, the flight to Atlanta was fine and at the airport of Atlanta, we had to wait a while for our next flight to Amsterdam. But yes, some food and some time for sending a message back home by Internet, simply just some rest and then the last flight going home was there. I have been sleeping very well on the plain, but Willem has practically not, so that was no fun for him. Wednesday morning we came on Schiphol Airport just about after 8, where Herman and Johan were waiting for us. Tsjee, more than four weeks vacation and we really have had a great time, but with the end in sight it is alright for coming home again. But then, what does it all looks small uphere, so much traffic and everything just very Dutch again. In the evening we had for dinner a lovely meatball, with baked potatoes and green beans. The dark wheat bread is tasting delicious again, in America it all has been very good and also the food on the ship, but food is very differently ofcourse.
The house looked fine, Johan had been very busy. What has proved to be very annoying for several days was my sore left shoulder and it turned to be bursitis. Wednesday morning shortly after coming home I was able to see the doctor very soon and I finally had a couple of shots. This has been fortunately helping very well until now and the rest should cure with rest. Now it's already Friday again, Willem and Johan are with Herman to the Army open house days in Havelte and after a night with some really little sleep I will start again with all the pictures to organize. We have really made a lot pictures, so there is a nice job to organize them and partly some scrapping again ofcourse.
